ATTACKED . . . Mandy with daughter Casey, and Morgan
A TERRIFYING dog attack has left an eight-year-old girl and her mum too frightened to walk through their local park.
Mandy Fraser and her daughter Casey were walking Morgan, their small Jack Russell-Shih Tzu cross, through Limeside Park when a bulldog, which had been let off its lead, ran over and pounced on the family pet.
As Mandy tried to help her pooch, the bulldog turned on her and Casey, a pupil at Oasis Academy Limeside, and attacked them.
Mandy (40) says she was knocked to floor as the dog climbed on top of her, attempting to bite her face.
She suffered substantial bruises and cuts to her body during the attack but believes it is the mental scars which will take longer to heal, particularly for her daughter.
Mandy, of Ninth Avenue, Limeside said: “It was really traumatic for both of us. We were petrified.
“The dog was so savage — it nearly took my face off. If it had knocked over Casey or another child it would have been much worse.”
Mandy reported the incident to the police and has been told the dog’s owner will be asked to muzzle the animal when out in public.
“I cannot believe the dog has not been put down,” she said. “It is a danger to everyone. My little girl is terrified and is scared to walk through the park now. She can’t sleep and is in hysterics whenever she sees a dog.”
The attack comes after Greater Manchester’s Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd called on the Government to force irresponsible dog owners to control dangerous pets.
