AN elderly man was knocked to the floor during a robbery in his home in Lees.
The 80 year old was watching TV with his partner when he heard bangs from the upstairs of the house in High Street.
He went to investigate and was confronted by a man who knocked him over. A camera, money and a handbag were among the items stolen at 10.15pm on Friday.
The burglar was Asian, 5ft tall, stocky and wearing a red, blue and black scarf across his face and a hooded jacket.
Detective Constable Leigh Carnally said: “We believe the man forced his way in through the back door and walked into the hallway and upstairs. He searched upstairs before the homeowner heard banging.
“Fortunately the man’s injuries weren’t serious, though he needed hospital treatment.”
