HUNDREDS of people packed into Oldham Parish Church to enjoy a spectacular night of Christmas singing and festive entertainment at the annual Oldham Chronicle Festival of Carols yesterday.
The concert raised money for the Hospital League of Friends and featured musical acts, big band numbers and children’s choirs.
Crompton House School Band performed several pieces over the evening, including a spirited rendition of George Michael’s pop classic “Last Christmas”.
Talented harpist Sarah Davies also wowed the audience with a beautiful performance of “Silent Night”.
Children from St Hugh’s CofE school choir sang “Jingle Bells” and “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” while youngsters from St Mary’s School Choir, in High Crompton, also sang beautifully.
The spectacular Manchester Chorale also performed several pieces, including “Sweet was the Song” and “In the Bleak Midwinter”.
