THE United Utilities plans for new waste water works
PLANS to massively overhaul waste water treatment facilities in Oldham have been unveiled at two public exhibitions.
The £114 million United Utilities scheme has been designed to create a cleaner River Irk, and will involve decommissioning part of the Royton sewage-treatment plant in Middleton Road, building new works at the Oldham waste water treatment plant off Foxdenton Lane, and linking the two sites with a new pipeline
The latest treatment processes will be installed at the Chadderton plant, which will be able to handle a greater volume of water.
The company expects to submit a planning application in the spring, and if the plans are approved will start work next winter. Work should be complete by the spring of 2017.
