Dr Gillian Fairfield: new Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust chief
A DOCTOR who runs one of the country’s largest NHS mental health trusts will be the new chief executive of the group that runs the Royal Oldham Hospital.
The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which manages four hospitals including Royal Oldham, will be run by Dr Gillian Fairfield when John Saxby retires as chief executive next spring.
Dr Fairfield is currently chief executive at Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (NTW).
She is married to an anaesthetist, and has three children.
She said of her new role: “It is a fantastic opportunity to lead the organisation through a period of substantial development and transformation as it continues its journey to Foundation Trust status.”
Trust chairman John Jesky said: “Gillian has an excellent track record of achievement, having taken two trusts to foundation trust status, and she brings with her a wealth of experience in the NHS in both clinical and senior management roles.
