LOCAL Liberal Democrats have selected their candidate for the 2015 General Election.
Party members met at Uppermill Civic Hall to see Richard Marbrow selected to fight the Oldham East and Saddleworth seat with sitting MP Debbie Abrahams.
Mr Marbrow, nominated by former candidate Elwyn Watkins, said: “I am really looking forward to the challenge. Liberal Democrats are working to build a stronger economy and a fairer society to enable everyone to get on in life. It’s a message I shall be proud to promote.
“In the past we have won strong backing from people in Oldham and the communities of Shaw and Crompton, Lees and Saddleworth. I want to regain that trust.
“In the 2015 General Election I think it will be a close fight here with Labour, with the Conservatives again trailing in third place.”
Mr Marbrow (39) trained as a scientist and is a former Liverpool city councillor and executive member.
Since 2009, he has managed the North-West office of Euro-MP Chris Davies, who is also the former MP for Littleborough and Saddleworth.
