SPORT is set for a £50,000 boost to encourage more Oldhamers to keep active.
Oldham Community Leisure (OCL) will be putting the money, from Sport England’s Community Sport activation fund, towards a new plan aimed at getting locals aged 14 and over excited about playing sport.
The project will build on the success of OCL’s Energize project from 2011, which encouraged families to take up climbing, trampolining, boxing, basketball and other actvities.
The new project will put mountain biking, climbing, running, swimming, diving, dance, rounders, badminton and football on the menu, at £1 a session.
Activities will also be available to local community groups.
