TWO Oldham town centre pubs have pulled out all the stops to help out children with cancer.
The Squire Knott and the Up Steps Inn, both owned by JD Wetherspoon, have raised £20,424 for CLIC Sargent which supports children and young people with cancer, and their families.
Staff and customers threw themselves into a variety of fundraising stunts including football tournaments, bake sales, pub quizzes and leg waxes.
The pubs’ efforts have been part of a continuing 11-year partnership between Wetherspoons and CLIC Sargent, during which time the organisations have raised an incredible £8 million.
David Morgan, manager of The Up Steps Inn, said: “We’re delighted to have played our part in reaching the £8 million mark.
“Without the efforts of our staff and the support of our customers we couldn’t have smashed our target to help such a worthwhile cause.
“We look forward to more fundraising as we continue to support children and young people with cancer.”
