Shoppers queue round the block

SALES fever swept across the borough as shoppers clamoured to grab sales bargains.
Motorists queued to get into the packed car park at Elk Mill Retail Park over the weekend.
Stores around the out-of-town shopping venue were bursting at the seams with customers eager to grab deals.
Town-centre traders were also besieged by bargain hunters. Spindles and Town Square Shopping Centre manager Mike Flannagan said shops enjoyed a last-minute festive rush and a post-Christmas sale flurry to give their profits a boost.
“We were extremely busy prior to Christmas from Boxing Day onwards,” he said.
“The trade came very late, as it did nationally, but most tenants are reporting very good business.”
