OLDHAM TV stars Phillip Schofield and Suranne Jones are going for gold in this year’s National Television Awards.
The 51-year-old presenter will be hoping to take home a fourth consecutive gong in the Daytime category with ITV’s “This Morning”. He will also face fierce competition in the Talent Show category with “Dancing on Ice” — up against “Britain’s Got Talent”, “X Factor”, “The Voice UK” and last year’s winner “Strictly Come Dancing”.
Meanwhile Chadderton-born Suranne will fight it out with “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch, “Luther” actor Idris Elba and “Broadchurch” detectives Olivia Colman and David Tennant in a new category introduced for 2013, Best TV Detective, for her role as Det-Con Rachel Bailey in “Scott & Bailey”.
The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony on January 22 (ITV1, 7.30pm)
