Story of retirement for Talking Newspaper trio
Date published: 21 January 2014
A hard-working trio is calling it a day and leaving Oldham Talking Newspaper after 25 years’ service.
Audrey McClelland, Ken Willan and Ron Vickers were presented with gifts and cards as they reminisced about their time at the paper.
The three worked behind the scenes, copying CDs of stories from the Oldham Chronicle to help local blind and partially-sighted people get their news fix.
The trio are now looking forward to more free time and admitted that, while they will miss the companionship and coffee, they won’t miss having to leave the house on dark winter nights to record stories.
