Gallery awaits verdict

GALLERY Oldham could play host to a unique night-time event by an artist fascinated with film-making, sculpture and swimming.
The Greaves Street gallery and museum is one of four UK venues in the running to win an event devised by sculptor and film-maker Amy Sharrocks under the Museums at Night project.
For years she has been investigating people's connection to water. Her previous events have include “Swim”, where 50 swimmers made their way across London by way of 15 lakes and pools.
Connect 10 — a national competition — is offering museums and galleries the chance to win the chance for a leading contemporary artist to put on an event at their venue from May 15-17.
Museums and galleries have been coming up with ideas, hoping to bring one of 10 leading contemporary artists to their venue to put on a unique and unusual event.
Members of the public have a week to decide which artist will go where.
