Gunmen held in bookies raid drama
Date published: 27 January 2014
TWO men have been arrested after holding up a bookmakers with an imitation gun.
The pair burst into Ladbrokes in Albion Street, Oldham, as it was closing at 10pm yesterday.
They grabbed a member of staff by her hair and threatened to shoot her unless she handed over cash.
The pair fled with some cash but were spotted on town-centre CCTV and firearms officers arrested them in Waterloo Street.
Chief Superintendent Catherine Hankinson said: “To arrest two suspected armed robbers so quickly after the incident is an excellent result and credit must go to everyone involved for their professionalism, dedication and determination. It also highlights the obvious benefits of having such a good network of CCTV cameras.”
