Katarzyna Gacek: murder charge
A CLARKSFIELD mother accused of murdering her seven-week-old baby was due to appear at Manchester Crown Court today.
Friends and family sobbed as Katarzyna Gacek (24) faced Oldham magistrates yesterday.
Gazek is charged with murdering baby Tomas Gacek at their home in Hillside Avenue. She also faces a charge of assault, ill treatment or neglect of a child.
With her long dark hair scraped from her make-up-free face, Gazek — who now lives in Roundthorn Road — spoke only to confirm her name, address and date of birth.
She nodded to friends and relatives in the public gallery as she was taken away to be remanded in custoody.
Gacek’s landlord Dawid Mokrzanowski (26), also of Hillside Avenue, Clarksfield, and her boyfriend Darren Butterfield (35), of Ross Avenue, Chadderton, are accused of assault, ill treatment or neglect of a child. They will also appear at crown court today. An application for bail ws refused
Tomas was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital on January 26. He died the next day after he was transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital. The three were arrested following a post-mortem examination.
