COUNCILLORS have agreed to fight to protect college education funding in Oldham.
In December the Education Funding Agency announced a reduction of 17.5 per cent in funding available to schools and colleges for students who are 18 at the start of their course. More than 700 of Oldham's 18 year olds will see their funding cut by around £800 to £3,300.
Councillors at the full council meeting on Wednesday decided to ask Education Secretary Michael Gove to reconsider the cut.
