OLDHAM Council has extended the deadline for residents to offer comments that could change the shape of the borough.
The move was announced after last night’s Chronicle highlighted issues surrounding the intention to close debate this Friday.
Saddleworth parish councillor Robert Knotts had accused the council of treating locals with “disdain” by not giving enough time for comments on the review, which covers sites for residential use, recreational purposes, employment or protection under the Local Development Framework (LDF).
Last night, a steady stream of residents from across Saddleworth visited a special drop-in session at Uppermill civic hall to see the plans and study related documents.
An Oldham Council spokesman said: “We have extended the time residents are able to submit their views about future developments in the borough as part of the Site Allocations Plan consultation to February 28.”
