Hole lot of trouble for motorists

FED-UP . . . Judith Braithwaite
A FED-UP motorist has complained about a huge pothole that has plagued drivers on a busy road for over a year.
Judith Braithwaite hit the hole - deep enough to expose the original cobbled surface - as she drove along Lees Road, between Grotton and Mossley.
“My front tyre exploded,” she said. “I had to leave my car and get someone to pick me up,” said the mother-of-three. “It was filled with water and I just couldn’t see it,” she said.
“The AA man said it was the third burst tyre he had replaced because of the same pothole.
“It’s a serious accident waiting to happen. The pothole is 18ins by 3ft wide and 6in deep. I stood by the roadside trying to warn other drivers, but I couldn’t stay there all day.”
A local householder said he had repeatedly reported the pothole to the council since December 2012. Though it has been filled in several times - including last week - the hole returns.
The council plans to send its high-tech “jet patcher” out today to do a better repair job.
