OLDHAM Council missed out on prizes at the Local Government Chronicle awards last night.
But local authority chiefs were pleased to be highly commended in the running for Council of the Year and shortlisted for the Corporate Governance Award.
Organisers received a record-breaking 640 entries for this year’s awards. Only 80 made the shortlists across 19 categories.
Oldham Council leader Jim McMahon said: “To be highly commended for Council of the Year and shortlisted for the Corporate Governance Award is further recognition of the high quality of services provided by the council.
“Oldham is a place on the rise and this is confirmation that we are making large innovative strides.”
