Rescue heroes win chief’s praise

Oldham’s mountain rescue heroes have received a commendation from a police chief.

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team covers the north end of the Peak District and often works with Derbyshire Police as well Greater Manchester Police.

The Oldham team is one of seven that make up the Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO) invited as guests of Derbyshire’s Chief Constable, Mick Creedon, to a ceremony celebrating achievement at police headquarters in Ripley.

The unannounced award was presented at the end of the ceremony in recognition of the teams’ services for over 50 years.

The seven teams, Buxton, Derby, Edale, Glossop, Kinder, Oldham and Woodhead, are this year collectively celebrating the 50th anniversary of the formation of the PDMRO.
