A 26-year-old man is in a critical condition with a serious head injury after the Kia Rio he was travelling in collided collided with the central reservation on Oldham Way.
The accident occurred close to the junction with the Featherstall Road North roundabout in Westwood at 2.15am on Friday.
The 27-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury while driving dangerously.
He remains in custody.
