Nicola gets the keys to her new Nissan Qashqai from Urfi Hossain of Westway Nissan.
OLYMPIC bronze medallist Nicola White is the proud driver of a sparkling new Nissan Qashqai - thanks to the generosity of Oldham’s business community.
Nicola (24), from Shaw, took delivery of the gleaming white vehicle from Urfi Hossain of Westway Nissan, Oldham at the One Oldham Business Awards on Friday.
The vehicle has been sponsored by the Oldham franchise plus several Oldham businesses including AMP Wire Ltd in Chadderton and the Johnson Group in Delph.
Nicola, who captained the England hockey team in a tournament last month, has joined her Southern colleagues in driving a top-of-the-range vehicle.
Many of the team-mates arrive at the training camps in sponsored cars and SUVs but Nicola used to trundle along in her Mini Cooper.
“I am so proud the people of Oldham are backing me,” she said. “Having this Qashqai is such a massive weight off my mind. Having to travel all over the country to training and to matches is a huge commitment and knowing I have this vehicle makes my life so much easier.”
