Ring and Ride goes extra miles
Date published: 28 March 2014
CHANGES to Greater Manchester’s Ring and Ride service making it easier to book travel and access more destinations will be introduced from Tuesday,
The service, which provides door-to-door transport for people of all ages who find it difficult to use ordinary public transport, will see changes in fare structure and integration of previous services.
The dedicated cross-boundary service will be withdrawn and become part of the main Ring and Ride service, providing the opportunity to book trips in Greater Manchester including travel into neighbouring districts of up to six miles.
A new fare structure, which removes the old return fare system, will also be introduced. Under the new structure, an adult single fare will cost £2 and concessionary single fares, after 9.30am, will be half the cost at £1.
Journeys over six miles to the nearest local hospital, town centre or accessible public transport facility will now be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The service will continue to run 8am to 10.45pm, seven days a week, and trips can be booked through one call centre phone number between 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, up to seven days in advance.
Information about Ring and Ride services is available at www.tfgm.com/ringandride or by calling 0845 688 4933.
