THE Alzheimer’s Society has launched a new online video and booklet to help more businesses and organisations become “dementia friendly”.
The news follows a conference in Oldham last month which highlighted the causes and effects of dementia and offered tips on helping sufferers, their family and friends.
Local MPs Debbie Abrahams and Michael Meacher joined forces with the Alzheimer’s Society and Oldham Dementia Partnership for the “Building a Dementia-friendly Oldham: A Call to Action” meeting at Earl Business Centre in Dowry Street.
The new online video, “Small Changes Help to Make a Dementia-friendly Community”, can be viewed on the YouTube website.
A new booklet is also available for businesses to download from The Alzheimer’s Society website.
Hazel Bayley, the society’s North-West operations manager, said: “This new range of information gives clear, straight-forward guidance on how employers can raise awareness of dementia among staff so they can learn how small changes make a big difference.”
The video can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz8ACEu7Lho and the booklet can be downloaded at www.alzheimers.org.uk/customerfacing.
