Woman to stand trial over fatal arson attack
Date published: 04 April 2014
A WOMAN charged in connection with a fatal arson attack in 1997 has had an appeal for dismissal rejected.
Fiaz Munshi (38), of Manley Road, Oldham, is in custody and set to face trial from June 4. She was arrested last year in connection with a fire in 1997 that killed Anum Khan (8), and brother Majid (15) in Cowley, Oxford.
Munshi’s case has been reviewed over recent months. An application to dismiss was rejected at London’s Central Criminal Court on Friday.
Five men were convicted and jailed for life for murder in 1998 following the arson attack. Munshi’s sister, Riaz, formerly of Oxford, was later convicted of manslaughter and jailed for 12 years.
