New signs show the way forward

A £230,000 town-centre scheme will make it easier for visitors to find their way round.
The council is installing maps along the Metrolink route. Walkways at King Street and Union Street will also be refurbished over the next 12 months as part of a four-year, £2.5 million improvement programme to make the borough more appealing to visitors and residents alike.
Councillor Shoab Akhtar, Cabinet member for business and town centres, said: “The new signage will be more user-friendly and it will navigate people to their destinations better.
