Transport for Greater Manchester has launched a new scheme to literally put workers on their bikes
Bike Back to Work gives those who have found work the chance to apply for a free, recycled bike to use to get to work. The intention is to reduce travel expenses - one of the biggest costs during the early stages of new employment.
The bikes come with cycling accessories and safety equipment such as lights and helmets. Free cycling and maintenance training is provided by TfGM.
Jobseekers who have found employment and are signing off benefits can apply for a recycled bike, with all applications being made through Jobcentre Plus and Work Programme Providers advisers.
