CCTV upgrade

A £320,000 upgrade of Oldham’s CCTV network was given the seal of approval last night.
The overhaul will allow greater monitoring capacity and improved partnership with police.
The council’s current control room in Derker needs an upgrade to handle cameras installed by housing providers and other sources, and extra capacity is needed for more monitors and storage.
The current system, in use for five years, monitors 77 public-space cameras and 90 private-space cameras.
