COUNCILLORS have backed plans to merge St John’s Voluntary Aided CE Infant School with its junior school.
The Failsworth infant school will close on August 31 and expand the age range on September 1 before rebranding as St John’s CE Primary School, Oldham Council’s cabinet decided last night.
The council merges schools wherever possible, to maintain continuity, and only three linked Infant and Junior schools now remain in the borough.
