AN Oldham dance couple have waltzed away with a national title.

Vanessa Wong (15) and her dance partner Jack Bamber (17), from Trujon’s Dance School in Royton triumphed at the Nationwide Ballroom and Latin finals at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

The dynamic duo have danced together only since December, but claimed the Under 16s Latin title and just missed out on a double, with only two points between them and the champions of the Under 16s Ballroom final.

Kwok Wong, Vanessa’s father, said: “She is delighted to have become champion. She and Jack have worked so hard together each week and they deserved this win.”

Vanessa, a Blue Coat School pupil, had never competed with a male dancer before.

“Vanessa is very talented and has the potential to dance professionally and make a career out of what she loves,” said her father.
