AN urgent appeal has gone out to Delph residents to help restore a vital car park.
An appeal for funds has been launched to restore the car park at Gartside Street, behind Delph Methodist Church, for community use.
An invitation is being sent to every household and business in the village to attend public meetings on Monday to seek donations and help.
The church was forced to close the car park behind its buildings on the advice of its insurer because of its poor state of repair.
The letter says: “The church doesn’t have the resources to repair the car park but it appreciates how valuable it is to the local community and wants it to continue to be available for the use of residents and visitors.”
Surfacing and other drainage works could cost £30,000. The pot currently stands at around £15,000.
Everyone is invited to an open session on Monday (2.30pm-3.30 pm and 7pm-8pm) to find out more, ask any questions, make a donation or offer help.
