Walking back to happiness
Date published: 28 April 2014
A band of 360 fundraisers turned out for a hospice-to-hospice walk yesterday - once more showing massive support for the annual event that raises money for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice.
Supporters of both the Royton hospice and Rochdale’s Springhill Hospice joined forces for the seven miles-plus trek between the two buildings.
Dr Kershaw’s organiser, Cheryl Calverley, said: “It was really, really good. We had 80 people register on the day, bringing our total number of walkers to 360. It was fantastic to see so many turn up”
“I don’t know how much the day raised yet, but last year it brought in over £10,000, so that was our target this year.
“It’s not just about raising money though, it’s about bringing the community together and raising awareness of the hospice.”
