Annalise inquest to open
Date published: 30 April 2014
AN inquest into the death of schoolgirl Annalise Holt at a zebra crossing in Shaw in December, last year, began today.
The 12-year-old Royton and Crompton School pupil and her 11-year-old friend were hit by a van on the crossing on Milnrow Road shortly after 4.30pm on December 17.
Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries, however Annalise was pronounced dead later that evening.
The death sparked further action by residents who have long called for changes to be made at what they see as a notorious accident blackspot.
Earlier this year Oldham Council committed to a significant upgrade of the crossing, at the junction of Crompton Way, Milnrow Road and Linney Lane, as part of a review of sites across the borough.
