Charity ride to raise syndrome awareness

Huan Harris-Larkin (10) - bike ride date on Monday
FOUR youngsters who all have the same rare genetic disorder are getting on their bikes to raise awareness of the condition.
Huan Harris-Larkin (10), from Shaw, was diagnosed with Cri du Chat syndrome as a baby — a complex condition which prevents him from talking, reduces his mobility and means he needs 24-hour care.
The brave youngster will be getting on his own special bike on bank-holiday Monday, in which mum and event organiser Rhiain Harris-Larkin can push him for part of the 10-lap ride around Alexandra Park’s duck pond. Three other sufferers of the syndrome from other parts of the country will join Huan for the event
The bike ride is on national Cri du Chat awareness day, May 5 — the fifth day of the fifth month — as the condition affects the fifth chromosome.
Huan, a Kingfisher Community School pupil, has two brothers Dewi (14) and Emyrs (12), who are unaffected by the disorder.
