Theatre’s reputation keeps on growing

OLDHAM Coliseum Theatre has scooped three national awards for its family events and welcoming atmosphere.
The Family Arts Festival Awards are linked to a touring production, “My Friend Nigel” performed theere last autumn.
The theatre’s learning and engagement department and Young Rep company attended a ceremony in London and returned home with awards for best family venue, best family event and best family welcome.
Other winners included Shakespeare’s Globe, the Nottingham Theatre Royal and Northern Ballet.
Voted for entirely by the public who attended the Family Arts Festival events last October half-term holiday, the awards recognise outstanding events and the organisations taking part in the festival. Richard Hall, head of learning and engagement at the Coliseum, was proud to accept the award along with representatives from the company, said: “It’s fantastic for our talented company to be recognised nationally for the brilliant work they’ve been doing in Oldham. Having also recently been finalists in the Pride Of Oldham Awards it just shows how dedicated they are and everyone at the Coliseum is immensely proud of them.”
