Damaged building to be repaired

BUILDING work starts on the damaged offices in Union Street
REPAIR work has begun on the town centre offices that closed a road and halted trams.
The former Jacksons Solicitors, at Union Street and Peter Street, was subsiding and had a large crack in its gable wall. It was propped up with emergency supports earlier this year.
The building will now be partly demolished before receiving new foundations and walls.
Property owner Chris Bychowiec said: “The site is being refurbished and work will probably last from six to eight weeks. Peter Street is due to reopen in a week and there should be no impact on tram services.”
