A ROYTON man has been charged with the attempted murder of a Rochdale sex worker who was left with a knife in her neck on Thursday night.
Matthew Graham (29), of Burnsall Grove, Royton, is appearing at Bury and Rochdale Magistrates’ Court today after being charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
Just after 8.45pm on Thursday, a 30-year-old woman was attacked by a man on a footbridge which crosses from Lincoln Street to Oldham Road in Rochdale.
Police said the pair had a short discussion and walked to the footbridge before the man hit the woman, knocking her to the ground and demanding money before stabbing her in the neck with a knife.
The woman was taken to hospital and received treatment before later being released.
