TWO new community centres are set to be completed in Oldham within the next two months in a multi-million pound scheme.

The project is part of the wider £113m Gateway to Oldham PFI scheme, launched in 2011 to provide 700 new and refurbished homes across the borough.

Both centres are nearing completion alongside a new shop space on the Crossley Estate in Chadderton.

The Crossley Centre will be open to the public in mid-June and the tenants’ hall at Primrose Bank will be demolished in the next month to make way for a new centre, expected to open mid-July.

Joanne Jamieson, regional managing director for contractor Wates Living Space, said: “These facilities will provide a valuable service for local residents.”
