Company in the dock over worker’s death

AN OLDHAM manufacturer is set to be prosecuted following the death of an employee, hit by a three-tonne piece of steel being lifted by an overhead crane.
Michael Wickstead (63) from Radcliffe, was working at Refinery Supplies Ltd in Chadderton when the incident happened.
The Health and Safety Executive is bringing criminal proceedings against Refinery Supplies Ltd following a subsequent investigation into Mr Wickstead’s death on July 11, 2011. The case is due to be heard at Trafford Magistrates’ Court today.
