BLOT on the landscape: this household waste from the home of Abdul Waheed of Greenacres Road, Oldham, was found dumped in Holts. Waheed (31) pleaded guilty to failing in his duty of care and was fined £265, with £920 costs.
OLDHAM Council’s campaign to keep the borough clean has seen the prosecution of 10 fly-tippers and litterers ordered to pay over £5,000 in fines and costs.
All the cases for breaching environmental health laws were heard at Oldham magistrates court, with fines and costs ranging from £190 to £1,185.
Elaine McLean, Oldham Council executive director for neighbourhoods, said: “The vast majority of our residents and visitors live and work within the law. But those who do not can be assured that Oldham Council will take action against them.”
She urged the public to stop people breaking environmental laws and help improve the borough by reporting offenders on 0161-770 2244 or by e-mailing contact@oldham.gov.uk
