Pavement artists work flat out on creating 3D illusion

ILLUSIONARY artwork . . . Urban Canvas will create a one-off piece of 3D street art at this years Festival Oldham. Despite how it looks, this floor is entirely flat!
A MIND-BOGGLING piece of illusionary street art will take shape outside Gallery Oldham this week, courtesy of internationally-acclaimed pavement artists Urban Canvas.
Over three days the group will create a one-off piece of 3D art as part of this year’s Festival Oldham activities.
The large-scale work will magically “rise” from the pavement when viewed at the right angle.
The finished work will supply a striking visual invitation to the gallery’s event “Rooted” on Saturday (noon-4pm), which showcases artists and activities for children and young people.
Skateboarding demonstrations and a special BMX dance show will be performed on the 3D artwork at the free event which also features live music, theatre and crafts.
