Doctor faces child sex charges

A JUNIOR doctor working in paediatrics has been charged with two counts of engaging in sexually activity with a child and possessing indecent images of children.
Raza Laskar (31), of Ashton, is currently remanded in custody and due to appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court today. The sexual activity charges relate to a 15-year-old boy.
On May 2, as part of an ongoing operation, Laskar was arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children following the execution of a warrant at a house in Ashton.
He was further arrested on May 22 on suspicion of sexual activity with a child following a review of computers and other items recovered.
Divisional Commander of Oldham and Tameside, Chief Supt Caroline Ball, said: “We know this man has worked in hospitals right across Greater Manchester.
“We are currently working through numerous computers and other electronic items as part of our investigation, which is very much in its infancy, and would encourage anyone with information or concerns to contact the police.”
