A village tearoom and an historic inn have won accolades from the world’s largest travel website, TripAdvisor.

The Vintage Cupcake Kitchen in High Street, Uppermill, has been awarded a certificate of excellence for ranking in the top 10 per cent of businesses worldwide on the vast website. Review ratings averaged an impressive 97 per cent for customer satisfaction.

Keen bakers and best friends Beth Blackmore and Hannah Jones, who opened the kitchen four years ago, were delighted with the award and thanked customers for their support.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has left a post on TripAdvisor about our shop,” they said.

“We are overwhelmed with this accomplishment and it makes us feel so proud and privileged to be able to bake sweet treats and share our dream with you all.

Staff at the landmark Old Bell Inn, Delph, have been recognised as a top performing hotel and restaurant with a similar award.

The accolade is given to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on the site.

Inn proorietor Philip Whiteman said: “Winning is a true source of pride for our entire team and we’d like to thank all of our past guests who took the time to complete a review.”
