CONSTRUCTION of Crompton House School’s controversial new football pitch is underway.
The pitch has left local residents up in arms over concerns for parking and access at peak times, as well as noise and light pollution.
But the school is happy that work has begun and remains certain the pitch will boost sporting success and be an asset to the community.
Deputy head Jim Upton said: “The work is planned to be completed over the summer holiday ready for the new school year.”
The new all-weather pitch will replace a shale area and will be useable by the wider community as well as pupils. The new pitch will be 12 metres further back from neighbouring properties than the current one.
But High Crompton Residents’ Group chairman Roy Butterworth remains sure that the traffic will cause havoc for residents.
