Oldham youth dole toll is plummeting

OLDHAM has seen the biggest drop in youth unemployment across the country.
The latest figures show 715 people aged 18-24 in Oldham registered as unemployed - a drop from 1,420 in May last year.
Unemployment across the whole of Oldham’s population has continued to fall for the fourth successive month with 4,229 people, three per cent of the working population, currently out of work. The figure is down 193 from last month and down 3,671 from the same time last year.
Oldham reflects the unemployment picture nationally as across the country unemployment fell by 161,000 to 2.16 million, with the jobless rate dropping to 6.6 per cent in the past month.
