AN unexploded device has been discovered at a Chadderton school.
Police shut roads around Yew Tree Community School in Alcester Street and parents were asked to pick their children up before lessons started.
It is not yet known what the device is and the school will stay closed until further notice.
Earlier this month, a piece of metal was discovered that was thought to be part of an artillery gun.
A parent governor was installing new benches in a playground at the school when he unearthed a metal shell.
He initially thought nothing of it, but later contacted the Territorial Army in Failsworth, who told him to call the police. The item was thought to be part of an artillery firing mechanism.
