Dovestone Reservoir’s proposed new visitor centre
PLANS for a visitor centre at Dovestone reservoir have been unveiled for public approval.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) has drawn up plans for a “small” centre at the Greenfield beauty spot after thousands of people who responded to surveys over five years said there was a need for one, and for improved facilities.
The proposals include new toilets, a kiosk, a shelter for visitors and space for community use.
The preferred location is next to Dovestone Sailing Club.
Miriam Biran, the RSPB’s visitor services manager at Dovestone, said: “We have spent time carefully looking at different options. The proposed hub is not intended to attract more people but to enhance the visits of those who currently come.”
The public can see the plans at the RSPB office in Uppermill on July 15 or August 11 (3pm-8pm), or at Dovestone on June 29 or July 30 (11am-4pm).
The plans can be seen online at www.rspb.org.uk/dovestone.
