EASY does it . . . the Oldham tram built in 1902 is carefully lifted on to the lorry
AN iconic Oldham tram was loaded on to the back of a lorry to take a trip through the borough for the first time in 80 years.
The Oldham Corporation Tramways 43, which was discovered on a farm in Alt Lane last year, was successfully moved ahead of its restoration.
The old tram carriage, which was built in 1902, was placed carefully on the back of the lorry and taken to the Heaton Park Tramway to become part of the Manchester Transport Museum Society’s collection.
It will be a long-term restoration project as it will need a large amount of fundraising.
