AN Oldham magician pulled a rabbit out of the hat when he picked up a top award.
Peter Cholewa (26) out-illusioned six other performers to win the Order of the Magi — a Manchester magicians’ society — annual close-up magic competition.
With his stunning sleight-of-hand routines, Peter — a personal carer from Dobcross — won the competition by unanimous vote.
The former Our Lady’s RC High School pupil said: “It is fantastic. I work very hard to improve myself and it is great to see it paying off.”
Peter first gained an interest in magic as a boy, when his dad showed him card tricks. His passion continued to grow.
He added: “I love the different reactions I get from people. The look of surprise is amazing and I love it when people ask me how I did it.
“It is also great to be at the point where other magicians ask me how I have done something. The best feeling is knowing other magicians want to know your secrets.”
Peter — a fan of famous close-up magician Dynamo — currently performs at charity events and private functions but has his eyes set on a career like that of his idol.
