Carnival set to shine
Date published: 20 June 2014
FAMILIES are promised a packed programme of attractions at Sunday’s Oldham Carnival and RootZ Festival.
And with sun forecast, big crowds are expected to flock to Alexandra Park.
There will be live music all afternoon and the UK Dance Troupe Championship runs all day. The new Carnival to Moors 7k race starts in the park at noon and the traditional carnival parade will follow at 2pm.
Food, charity and craft stalls will be open throughout the day along with funfair rides while the freebie zone features lots of free activities — including human table football.
The carnival also coincides with the culmination of the second annual fund-raising and awareness week for Oldham’s Mahdlo Youth Zone which hopes to raise £10,000 this year.
FAILSWORTH Carnival organisers are in need of volunteers to help marshal the parade on June 28.
The event features local organisations and floats and leaves Lord Lane at 1pm, part of the two-day carnival at Lord Lane playing fields.
To volunteer as a marshal, contact Mel Garner on 07749-498 737.
