AN Iraq war veteran is revving up to take part in a charity motorbike ride with a friend to raise money for ex-service personnel.
Tom Kiggin (29), from Oldham, and Darren Evans (27), from Cheshire, will ride 340 miles from Llandudno to Brighton to raise money for Blind Veterans UK, the national charity for ex-service personnel.
The pair met in the Army, where they both served in the King’s Regiment. Tom said: “My father had been in the same regiment and my grandfather had been a paratrooper, so joining the Army had always been something I wanted to do.”
The pair will be taking part in Ride for Life Beyond Sight Loss, Blind Veterans UK’s first ever motorcycling event.
“There’s a big riding community in the Army. I’ve been riding for a couple of years now and this will be my first big long-distance route,” said Tom.
The event starts in Llandudno on July 26. Visit www.blindveterans.org.uk/bikeride for details
